Unlimited trial?

There is a unlimited version trial? Many examples can not be following because many good things to have in the free type are not contained inside but only in the unlimited type.

The amount of difference of the price between the free and the standard version compared to the version unlimited is very large number but also even like that is that you can not test the examples because you can not complete them because the things you need to have are in color gray or because in the visual studio source code appear a point thing pointing that you need to haev some library insatlled that you don't have because it is only included in the type of unlimited version that is not ready available for me to make the tests.

I do not feel confortable with things hapening that way because is too much more money that I will ned to buy a thing I am not enormely sure that is going to work.

  • You are unlikely to ever get the unlimited version as a free download.

Why not read this COT page (free demonstration section) and sign up for a free demonstration and ask to be shown the features you want.

  • eduviges melara,

See our roadmap for availability of Code On Time v9 at https://codeontime.com/roadmap.

The next major release of the app generator introduces a unified Designer built into the apps with three different backends:
    1) Code On Time v9 - the equivalent of the current app generator.
    2) Cloud on Time - online version of the app generator with subscription-based pricing. It will be hosted in Windows Azure and include a database designer.
    3) Cloud on Time Private Edition - a special edition of Cloud On Time priced per processor core.

Starting with Code On Time v9 any app will have an option to activate Project Explorer if you are logged in as "Developer". A hierarchy of project configuration elements will be displayed alongside the app. Drag & drop operations from the hierarchy to the current page will enable rapid design. Selection on the page will synchronize with the Project Explorer. We will support multiple databases in a single app.

Project Explorer will communicate with the backend to modify the app. The new architecture will enable instant preview in many cases, which will further speed up and simplify development.

Object Inspector will show all properties of the selected objects in design mode. This will make it easier to discover configuration options.

Both options (2) and (3) are equivalents of Code On Time v9 Unlimited Edition. Option (2) will offer a free trial.

We do not offer Code On Time 8 Unlimited Edition for free trial since we are not able to disable your apps or the generator remotely.

  • I did not understood almost anything you explained to me. No idea even closer of what you did said to me. I will go learning more and maybe I will understand later. I know it is not fault of fours that I can not understood.

My idea of unlimited trial is not that codeintime be putting his program for free in the most expensive product you have. My idea is that you can deliver an unlimited trial version in which you can follow all the examples with no trouble (as it is now because the version you have is not good enough).

So in that way you keep your secrets and all the things you have that you can not share with the public people.

But if you do what I suggest then me (as a persona) will have the chance to put to try to work my own database using your leaning material samples because if not then I could ask you the following thing very simple:

What is the purpose of you and me of learning something that I will never see how it behaves with my own eyes? How will you expect that not having saw what I told you then a person can decide to spent almost 2,000 US Dollars ($) in something unknown to the person because it never was allowed to try it for his own persona?

For that reason is that I recommended to you to do that.

Maybe what I am saying is the same you did wrote above in your answer but is is very too heavy hard to understand to me. I did not really understood what you did told me.

When I first looked at COT I had just been "burned" with the closure of Iron Speed.

I wanted to know if COT would do what I wanted it to do. So, like Jonesy above, I booked a Free Presentation (you will find the link at the bottom of the page Jonesy has added.

I was able to ask Serge (the presenter) all my questions. There were others in the presentation as well and we could all ask our questions and have Serge show us what COT was able to do.
This helped me make my decision to go with the unlimited version and I haven't looked back. Best decision of my life.

COT gives you so many ways to make up your mind, from free smaller versions to free presentations with highly trained staff.

    • I should must add that https://codeontime.com/services prices are too way high.

$549, $949 and $149 for one simple single hour. That is quite a more value than the product himself.

I don't know if to say wow or that I am in awe of to see this prices.
    • What Jonesy and others are stating is free (there is no charge) and Serge will spend time answering and demonstrating your questions. Frankly I was so impressed by what Serge did (which greatly exceeded anything I had seen or read) that I purchased COT immediately thereafter (that was 3-4 years ago. I, too, have not looked back nor regretted it!

  • I was reading the things Miss Kerrie was telling me. I studied the comparison between all releases of the codeintime and this is what I have until now.

Is very curious that since release 8.6.0 only 2 mayor changes has been made: 8.6.3 and 8.6.6 and this is giving me an idea that what really have is still version 8.6.6 corrected in some form until the issue 8.6.10 but they are still the same in its essence.

I think I understand now why so many red triangels from many people having problems because looking carefully and comparing the release dates you can see that there is something that can not be corrected in this almost short 40 last days for the codeintime people since the 8.6.6 release was put to freedom.

I understand now that to work with the 8.6.5 can be the best for me now.

  • eduviges/carlos,

I'm trying to understand what you are aiming for here.

Software versions are only released when improvements have been added or bugs fixed or else why would you create a new version?
If this is true your choices are either move to the new release or stick with the old.
If you stick with the old you must accept the limitations.

In relation to "Premium" or "Standard" versions - If you owned windows XP would you really expect the same features as windows 10 without upgrading?
Likewise, if you paid for a "standard version" of ANY product ANYWHERE would you really expect to get the "premium version" benefits without paying extra?

Surely this would make no sense.

    Cheers,
    Jonesy

  • Mr Cheers Jonesy:

You will not going to buy a car without putting it to work the accelerator with your own foot or the brakes or the air aconditioned or the lights or the things is usual for a person that is going to buy a vehicle to put a try of his own persona.

Because you need to feel the power of the speed and the power it to stop and to see the lights in the dark, or is not normal to you because this is normal to me.

And I am not going to be saying that codeontime will is going to disclose his programming secrets for no cost. I know I have to pay if I am going to buy something that I want.

My sugestion is that codeintime can have a training full featured thing, like when you go to learn how to drive an plane or a space ship. They have simuladores and aunque looks like the real thing is just a copy because is not real is just made for the training of the people that uses it.

But the important thing is that you feel in the space out and drive and fell an astronauta, but you are really on the planet earth but you can learn to drive it.

Is the same simuladores idea that codeintime can have to training the people that is going to use it but tasting it before buying it so they can see how it works.

Is easy to understand to do tests before buying because all people do all the time, no?

  • eduviges melara,

You will be able to test drive Code On Time v9 in April of 2018 - see roadmap at http://codeontime.com/roadmap#cot-v9.

Code On Time v8 creates apps with the complete source code. There is no way for us to disable the app generator or created apps remotely.

That is why we do not offer a free trial

We understand that this is a problem and are working diligently to offer a way for our potential customers to try the full product out.

Come back to this site in April of 2018 for the latest news!

  • Ok. I accept that I have been using this Eduviges Melara account to enter again this forum.

I present to all of you my deepest apologies for my former and disgusting behaviour.

I am not saying this in order to ask a pardon from all of you because I know I am not worth of it.

But even like that I am obliged for my own principles, as a decent person which I think I am, to ask you your forgiveness. Please.

I will just say clearly one simple thing which brings me here and which is also true:

Firstly: I bought Code On Time wrongly. But not because of Code On Time itself but a poor choice of my own, which is obviously and by the way : my fault. You have nothing to do with that and it's all on me.

I have realized that for the purposes that I pursue, I don't really need a licensed version of Code In Time at all. My development doesn't really need complex calculations or fancy C# code or any other intricacies of the ASP.Net neither of the Entity Framework at all.

I just need to have a way of working with segmented data of some tables and displaying them in a secure and structured way depending on the user logged in and depending also on his role or security level of each one of them.

But more important for me is finding a way of gathering the data which belongs to an intersection or middle table of a non-pure combination table, because this middle table also has additional columns other than the foreign primary keys which constitute the intrinsic Primary External Keys of that type of table.

    IMAGE ONE

So, the normal many to many link is handled by Code On Time in the following way (https://codeontime.com/learn/getting-...) which is correct for a pure-relationship-middle-table, like this

That works just fine for the left side of "IMAGE ONE" but not for the right part

    Create table [EmployeesByStore2]
    (
    [StoreID] Integer NOT NULL,
    [EmployeeID] Integer NOT NULL,
    [EmployeesByStoreID] Integer Identity NOT NULL,
    [Reason_of_Assignment] Nvarchar(120) NOT NULL,
    [StartingDateOfAssignment] Datetime NOT NULL,
    [EndingDateOfAssignment] Datetime NOT NULL,
    Primary Key ([StoreID],[EmployeeID],[EmployeesByStoreID])
    )

Because after you have selected employee "Davolio" I rather need working with the middle table and making CRUD of it like this:

    VERY IMPORTANT

If I can accomplish that then I will no longer need to be programming any further additional code. I can perfectly have access to all of the tables in my database with just the normal CRUD that Code On Time gives you even in the free version of it.

So I am not saying that I will not pay for Code On Time because I already did.

What I meant to say is that for my purposes, I don't need to have the Unlimited version of it installed in my computer (IF AND ONLY IF) instead of buying the license I pay for the development to Code On Time and in that way I won't have the need of going trough all the steps of the leaning process which means that I can be more productive.

I respectfully present to you my best regards

    Carlos Porras

P.S.: Eduviges do exist and she just works with me and tried to help me encouraging me to came here again using her name. She's a clerk; a very good and understanding one by the way.

  • Carlos,

The following instructions are for Classic UI + Premium Edition:

    1) Create a detail relationship on the page as explained at http://codeontime.com/learn/pages/con....

    2) Set view Type for the child data view to Data Sheet.

Your end users will be able to enter child records inline.

Inline editing will soon be available in Touch UI as well.

  • (NOTE: I am saying this with huge respect to you; I am not challenging you in any way; just asking and making clear my point of view. A mere question; nothing else)

What is depicted in the example is not exactly the same directly multi-choice behavior as the many-to-many CodeOnTime trick does, which is wonderful by the way.

The option of editing directly the many-to-many choices in a single screen, in a single step is something quite huge, monumental from my point of view or perspective. Is like magic.

But there is a huge difference in the concept of what I want to achieve (see closely the direction of the arrows, please)

In your example the keys go in cascade Customers->Orders->OrdersDetails
which doesn't behave like if you have the keys pointing differently like if you had in your example instead:Customers>OrdersDetails) EmployeesByStore (
