The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters

When attempting to publish from visual studio to azure app service, I now get the following error (was working fine in previous attempts). How can this be resolved?

Transformed web.config using C:\Users\markj\Documents\Code OnTime\Projects\Web App Factory\Case In Point\WebApp\Web.Release.config into obj\Release\TransformWebConfig\transformed\web.config.
Auto ConnectionString Transformed obj\Release\TransformWebConfig\transformed\web.config into obj\Release\CSAutoParameterize\transformed\web.config.
Copying all files to temporary location below for package/publish:
obj\Release\Package\PackageTmp.
C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v14.0\Web\Microsoft.Web.Publishing.targets(2594,5): Error : Copying file obj\Release\Package\PackageTmp\obj\Release\Package\PackageTmp\obj\Release\Package\PackageTmp\App_Themes\_Shared\tab-active-right-verticalright.gif to obj\Release\Package\PackageTmp\obj\Release\Package\PackageTmp\obj\Release\Package\PackageTmp\obj\Release\Package\PackageTmp\App_Themes\_Shared\tab-active-right-verticalright.gif failed. The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters.
