Tabs and Wizards cause problems with DOP

Hi,
I am using COT 8.7.14.0 and having some trouble with ODP and tabs/wizards. If I do enable ODP in touch-settings.json, then everything works fine as far as I have all categories for my child tables in the same Createform. However, if I try to organize or structure the visual appearance of the Createform by means of Tabs or Wizards for the child tables, then the child tables are not updated (they do not display) the data entered in the lookup. This does not happen, as said, when tabs/wizards are not used, as in that case, the child tables are always updated. I think that there is a bug, and that the lookup controler in ODP cannot reference back the child table as it does not point to the correct tab/wizard. Would be good to have your feedback as visual structure is important in my project (I need to have several child tables filled at one shot with ODP).
Thanks in advance!

  • I have just tested further and noted that the problem is linked with the initial visibility of the category, and not with the tab/wizard. For example, in the same Master/Child form working with ODP, if the category is configured as initially collapsed, then the child grid does not update when entering values in ODP mode.
If the category is not collapsed, then the child grid works fine...
Would be nice to have any comment from you COT guys...

  • Hi,

ODP is not functional yet, should be in version 8.9 or 9.0

    Best regards,

  • Thanks Rene!
When is going to be the new release ready? I was told three weeks ago before purchasing COT that a new release was planned already one week ago...
If not soon, is there any workaround that I can use with my problem? My project requires plenty of child tables filled up as part of a single transaction...

    Thanks again for your feedback...

  • COT, I understand that a new release may take time. I’m a bit surprised to get the reply above as complete support to my problem. The fact is that I agreed having a draft project submitted in three weeks for a complex database system and I am stuck three weeks after purchasing COT with quite a simple bug. I was digging in the java files and I’m almost sure that the problem I described is related with a simple data view ParentID. Everything works fine with ODP for my application requiring transactional data input. But you can imagine for sure that having 10 data view child tables in the same form is not practical nor clear nor serious. Having the child tables organised in at least different Tabs is really necessary in these cases, as otherwise, operators get extremely confused...
It looks however that despite of the impressive possibilities of COT, these small but important details are not relevant, and this is definitely discouraging me and raising more doubts about future developments and alternative platforms.
Don’t take me wrong please, but I think that you would feel much the same in my situation, mostly when your customer service informed me that ODP release would be ready in a few days:

Customer Service, Oct 21, 00:21 PDT:
    Luis,

The final version of ODP will become available this week. Go ahead and get license for the Premium edition. In a couple of days we are releasing 8.9.0.0. You will get is as a part of 12 months of updates.

The feature works just like in the video tutorial. The new tutorials dedicated to ODP will be published soon. We are also launching a new product called Offline Sync. Learn more at https://codeontime.com/blog/2019/10/a...

    Thanks again

    Hi,

If customer service told you this, than that is very disturbing. They should only sell you what they have, not what the near future could bring. Especially if you take into account that time lines are pretty soft with COT...
    Best regards,
    Rene
