I’m frustrated

Support for Sybase SQL Anywhere delivery date...??

Yeah...I was told back in December that you would provide support for Sybase SQL Anywhere...in fact, it was an agreed on condition of our purchase.....but....I keep getting blown off and nothing, from what I can tell, has been don on this. Do you have a projected date of completion or will you be providing refunds related to this?

  • The model map and data discovery for iAnywhere.Data.SQLAnywhere is incorporated into the product. The last remaining step is to change the UI of the project wizard to offer the configuration option on the connection string page.

The development team is working on incorporating connectivity for DB2, Advantage Server, and Microsoft Access and were planning to make one big roll-out of support for additional data sources. SQL Anywhere will go out first in the next update on Tuesday.

The update will also include full support for extended uploading/downloading of BLOB fields to capture Content Type, File Size, File Name. We will post a tutorial that shows how to take advantage of this new feature. It will also be possible to create "virtual" binary fields and have the data stored outside of the database.

The update will also include several important bug fixes along with improvements to the Data Sheet view.

  • COT, Can I suggest that Beta builds be made available to certain customers. It would make sense to test features widely as possible before releasing into the wild.
My observation is that BIG releases have bigger risks associated with them.
We also know that users (us) can do things in unexpected ways!

You guys should also provide links to prior versions as currently anyone who doesn't keep prior installer is stuffed if an update breaks their app...

  • SQL Anywhere 12 is now officially a new connectivity option in Code On Time. Read about it at http://blog.codeontime.com/2011/05/sq...

The new update with this feature will become available on Wednesday morning.

  • OK...I downloaded the revision from the link in the Blog. Uninstalled Code-On-Time. Re-installed using the new download. I STILL do not see Sybase listed in the Data Provider dropdown. The only three entries are MS SQL, MySQL and Oracle.

I'm NOT very amused right now. This is YET ANOTHER delay on a capability I was assured would be delivered by the end of December 2010.

Looks like something didn't get done guys....didn't make it to the UI/dropdown.

  • I’m angry
Since I had PLANNED on testing this new capability this morning, I GUESS all I have to do now is voice my displeasure and dissattisfaction at having been JERKED AROUND YET AGAIN. Such are the fruits of being "patient" and believing what I was told....but....I'm a resourceful guy....and I PROMISE YOU I will find a way to make certain you understand EXACTLY how unhappy I am about this development.

  • A prompt to download an update will start being displayed starting on Wednesday when you run the code generator or make a fresh install.

  • I’m thankful/happy
Downloaded the update when COT started this morning. Connection to Sybase SQL was there (yeah!!). First test case looked good, though it did bring in a lot more tables than I had selected...not sure why that was, but the inital test looks very promising. Interface looks good and resulting test app was great to see.

    Good Job and THANK YOU!
