Can't update a Date field after sending an email

Business Rules

Insert|Update (Sql/After)


if @IsBadgeLost = 1 AND @DeactivateNotification is null
set @BusinessRules_Whitelist = 'Nothing'

BEGIN
set @BusinessRules_Whitelist = 'LostBadgeEmail'
set @Result_ShowMessage = 'Sending Email'
set @Result_Continue = 1
set @DeactivateNotification = GETDATE()
END


I can't figure out where to put the set @DeactivateNotification = GETDATE() to make it inserts the date in the field so, if the record is edited again, another email will not go out. Email notification is working just fine on Insert and Update.
